How it works

How the Pomodoro method works

Pick one task. Work until the timer ends, then take the short break. Repeat, and take a longer break after about four rounds.

The timer keeps correct time if you switch tabs, though your browser may delay the chime in a background tab. Keep your device awake for long rounds.

Questions

Before you start.

What is the Pomodoro technique?

It’s a study method built on short, timed work rounds with breaks between them, usually 25 minutes on and 5 off.

Which rhythm should I pick?

Start with 25/5. Use 50/10 for deep work like essays, and 15/3 when you’re having trouble starting.

Does it work if I switch tabs?

Yes. It counts from the real clock, so the time stays right. Your browser may delay the chime in the background.

Do I need an account?

No. Open the page and press Start.
